There are a number of activities available locally including; hillwalking, rock climbing (for all abilities), cycling, sea and loch fishing, boat trips, and not forgetting the very popular and unique West Highland Dairy which sells freshly made ice cream and cheese.

World renowned Eilean Donan Castle, by the quaint village of Dornie, where freshly prepared meals are available from local public houses as well as tea and cakes at Eilean Donan Castle cafe.
Balmacara boasts a local Spar shop for all of your grocery needs as well as a post office and public house.
Kyle of Lochalsh is the main shopping village in the local area. Many local businesses have small quaint shops on the main street and there is also a petrol station, banks and a post office. Several restaurants and eateries are available in Kyle as well as public houses where you can sit with a refreshing glass of something cold after a day of exploring. There is a swimming pool and gym – great for those rainy holiday days. Kyle also has award-winning public toilet facilities, perfect if planning a day of outdoor activities!
In the opposite direction, the village of Lochcarron sits around the loch from Achmore. It is a small shopping village with petrol station, bank and post office. It also boasts a stunning local golf course.

The Cuillins on Skye are just 30 minutes away.
The Five Sisters of Kintail are but a 20 minute drive.
Falls of Glomach, Glenshiel are 30 minutes drive.
The village of Applecross is a 40 minute drive.
Glenelg brochs and a picturesque and fascinating drive and ferry trip from Skye are but an hour away.
And for something a little different, the local historical society welcomes tourist and visitors alike. As does the local award winning shinty team – Kinlochshiel – who you can see practising on various evenings and may even catch a game at the local shinty pitch near Balmacara.
